It gives me great pleasures today to be able to write something on this web page. Samling Carpet Industries was established in the year 1974 as a small carpet manufacturer with just 20 orphans and homeless people. With traces of giant strides behind, it is one of the leading Carpet manufacturer and exporter from Nepal today and exporting Tibetan carpets to the niche western market offering a wide collection of refined textures, styles and designs by assimilating the highly skilled and experienced craftsmanship of the east with expertise and modernity of the west.
With the growth in business over the years and a corresponding increase in the number of workers, an urgent need was felt for the welfare of the workers and their children. It is with this intention that I set up the Samling School in 1988 to cater to the fundamental need of the children of my workers for a decent education. Initially we worked from a small room in the present premises of my factory but gradually as children grew, we had to move to the present location and the Gangchen Samling School was established in the year 2003. I am proud today to say that we have about 350 plus children in this school, the majority being children of my workers and also orphans from around the locality. When I look back to 1988 and see the school at present, I feel a sense of contentment at having more things to do to carry this forward.
I take this opportunity to acknowledge the benevolent and gracious support of His Holiness Lama Gangchen Rinpoche and his organization Help in Action for sponsoring the education of hundreds of children. I also take this opportunity to thank my business partners Mr. James Tufenkian, Mr. Mike Ganzert and Mr. Franco Di Nepi for supporting me in my business and assisting this school from time to time.
